Kyung received her doctoral degree in Korean literature and started writing fiction while living as a researcher.
In 2022, Kyung debuted as a writer when she won the Third Prize in the Second Moon, Yoon Sung SF Literary Award in the Short Stories and Novellas category with her story entitled "The Case Concerning the Appearance of Alexander Skarsgård in the Living Room in the Middle of the Night" (한밤중 거실 한복판에 알렉산더 스카스가드가 나타난 건에 대하여).
In 2023 she published her first collection of short stories entitled Tonight the Stork Will Come to You (오늘 밤 황새가 당신을 찾아갑니다) and a novella entitled Western Express Silver Delivery (웨스턴 익스프레스 실버 딜리버리).
She is most interested in the limits and variations of “human” and “humanness,” as well as in the possible sceneries of possible worlds.
