Hyejin Kim Jeong (김정혜진)

Hyejin Kim Jeong majored in French literature in college and drama in graduate school. She performed in a theater group that she organized with her friends. She wrote while working as a reporter specializing in performance art and as a teacher at an alternative school teaching stage play and also worked as a critic after she won the Platform Performing Art Criticism Award in 2011 with her article "Girls Are Disappearing" (소녀들이 사라져간다).

In 2017, Hyejin wrote "TRS Is Taking Care of You" (TRS가 돌보고 있습니다), won the second prize in the second Korea Science Fiction Awards in Short Stories/Novellas category and began writing science fiction. TRS stands for "'Trusting A Robot' Study" and she wrote this story from the viewpoint of a researcher who studies whether robots can be trusted or not. Her debut short story poses questions such as: "if human beings are freed from hard labor and robots take over the task, who would grow from the experience, humans or robots?" and "what does it mean for a caretaker robot to grow?" This story was dramatized in 2020 and was aired on MBC and WAVVE as an episode entitled "The Prayer" (간호중) in the cinematic drama series SF8

Hyejin also published a mini-collection of  SF short stories entitled Feathers (깃털).
