Sanhwa Lee spent his childhood surrounded by old tomes of science books, which he thinks were probably gifts from relatives. He remembers that his very first literary work was the one he wrote on pieces of scrap paper when he decided to try and create his own non-fiction science book series. Afterwards he continued to learn about science, doodled, and created stories. In middle school he met friends with similar interests and began writing novels for the first time. As he knew only about science, he wrote about science, which felt right. He therefore continued to write while majoring in chemistry in college and in physical chemistry in graduate school and escaping with a master's degree.
Sanhwa's novels include a cyberpunk detective story An Error Has Occurred (오류가 발생했습니다) and an ecological thriller The Smuggling: Least Concern (밀수: 리스트 컨선). He has also published a collection of short stories entitled A Proven Fact (증명된 사실), which includes his works such as "This Is the Way the World Ends" (세상은 이렇게 끝난다), "A Proven Fact" (증명된 사실), "Sparse Hallucinations" (희박한 환각) and other stories. Sanhwa also published a number of short stories in various anthologies and in many different magazines. He mainly writes about the exquisiteness of the nature unknown and the difficulties of a scientist’s life. He enjoys writing about the mistakes and frustrations known to human beings and to science and the endeavors to cross the dangerous frontiers in spite of them.
