Kyung Hee Lee (이경희)

Kyung Hee spent his teenage years as a fanboy of SF and fantasy and ultimately came to dream about becoming a writer himself. He is trying to find his own little path while tracing the footsteps of great genre classics such as the animation and comics masterpieces of the 1980s and the 1990s; Star Trek episodes; Tolkien and Young-Do Lee; Le Guin and Zelazny; Alfred Bester and Cordwainer Smith; Djuna, Myung-hoon Bae, Jaesik Kwak, Bo-Young Kim and Seoyoung Yi. The stories he writes are usually a cross between SF and fantasy. Kyung Hee originally majored in business management and has a master’s degree. He also has some years of experience in the field of transportation.

Kyung Hee made his debut as a writer when his short story "The Legend of the White Magic Fox Without a Tail" (꼬리가 없는 하얀 요호 설화) won the Golden Bough Time Leap Literature Award in 2019. In the same year he published his first full-length novel, the cyberpunk SF Theseus’s Paradox (테세우스의 배), which won the Grand Prize in the 2020 SF Awards in the novels category. He most often writes about death, loneliness, social class and power. He tries to integrate the grammars of movie-making into his stories, to make them page turners that also naturally convey philosophy of life.
