Hokwan Ko liked SF growing up, and naturally became interested in writing while reading them. He wrote short practice works while participating in the SF club from the PC communication networks but considered it just a hobby at the time and never thought of becoming a writer. Later he majored in history of science in graduate school and began to write professionally as he worked as a science reporter. He wrote about the latest scientific issues for children’s magazine as well as magazine for the general public. While doing so he also published SF short stories in the webzine Mirror. For a while he wrote science columns or educational books and translated SF works from English to Korean. In 2015 he won the second Han, Nakwon Science Fiction Award.
Hokwan is interested in SF for children and young adults and has published SF for young adults in the magazine Mathematics Donga. He wants to write pieces that fuel the passion of mathematicians and engineers, like the ones by Arthur Clarke, his favorite writer.
