Doyeon majored in physics in college and astronomy in graduate school and earned a Ph. D. in science. He preferred movies over novels and spent time imagining stories that would never be made real. He started writing when his life welcomed a great moment of change: the birth of a family. Doyeon writes SF because the sense of awe and admiration from the combination of well-construed lies and fact that sound like fiction intoxicates him. Sometimes he writes horror, thriller, fantasy and Western. He has published The Great Silence(위대한 침묵), a collection of short stories; Vertia(베르티아), a cycle of stories; and EXOPLANET(외계행성), a non-fiction science book. The Great Silence was selected in the Ministry of Culture of Korea’s Literature Share Program in 2018. EXOPLANET was selected Science Book of the Year in 2019 by the Asia Pacific Center of Theoretical Physics at Pohang University of Science and Technology. Doyeon also participated in various anthologies and published short stories such as Goodbye, Achilles(안녕, 아킬레우스), Spaceship Vertia(우주탐사선 베르티아), Hollow Bubble(텅 빈 거품) and The End of Night(밤의 끝).
